Cream the Base:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and Crisco (or butter) until light and fluffy.
Add Wet Ingredients:
Beat the eggs well and add them to the creamed mixture. Stir in the water and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
Incorporate Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, sift together ½ cup of flour and the baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, stirring until smooth.
Form the Dough:
Slowly add the remaining flour, about 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms (approximately 2 cups total). Avoid overmixing.
Roll and Cut:
Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough out very thin (about ⅛ inch thick). Use cookie cutters to create shapes.
Bake:
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Cool and Enjoy:
Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack. These cookies are perfect for decorating or enjoyed plain!
