A friend of mine and his husband bought a farm in Western Michigan and started a modest garden in their first year. Very unlike our apartments in Chicago, there was plenty of room to try all sorts of crops. With that initial experiment came an abundance of herbs and vegetables, more than they knew what do with! They bought a dehydrator and started bottling their own herbs.
The dehydrator has always been an elusive piece of machinery to me, and in retrospect, it was my own intimidation that kept me away from this versatile device.
I am very happy to report that I’ve grown comfortable it and am very proud of my mastery of beef jerky and pet treats. Yes, pet treats! I’m continuously on the hunt for new recipes and ways to use my dehydrator, while at the same time perfecting and creating recipes which will appear on this site.
